Bathroom: Installing a pedestal sink and securing it to the wall ...?
Over the weekend, I want to install a pedestal sink in my small washroom. The center point of the sink lies between two studs. The walls haven't been refinished yet, so the studs are exposed. Should I horizontally install a section of wood between the two studs, so that when I install the metal support bracket, that it has something solid/secure to which to fasten? If so, should I use "L" or corner brackets or just cross angle my screws through the piece of wood and into the studs? I would be more concerned if the sink was solely a wall unit; but the weight will also be distributed to the base.
Also, are there any tips/hints you would suggest, in general about the installation of the pedestal sink? I appreciate your help.
wood blocking screwed into place will work fine. also, if the bowl is not fastened to the pedestal, as most arent, set the bowl in a bead of clear silicone caulk.
