I found a parakeet in my back yard, and it has a cast on his leg. How do I care for him?
The cast looks like maybe a vet did it. I put it in my bathroom with some water and bird seed. The seed is for the wild birds outside. I put up some signs around the area yesterday, but I havnt heard from anyone. He has been perched on my kleenex box and doesnt seem to have eaten anything. I know nothing about birds. help! I cannot keep him, I have 3 cats. Is there something else I should be doing?
a cast on a bird?? especially a tiny one?? someone some where cares about it, call all local vets, someone will know of it because it is so unusaul...it probly lives very close by...and parkeets may not eat oustide bird food, go to pet store, find one for parakkeets, only a few dollars.. when you have to move the bird, cover it with a washloth or small t-shirt while you handle it, this will keep it from going into shock. put into the kleenex box, and take to vet..
