What should I do if daycare worker doesn't seem to care enough about kids?
When I brought my daughter to daycare today, I saw a boy who wanted to go to the toilet. It was obvious that he needed someone's assistance. He was holding a little bench and looked at the daycare workers. There are 2 ladies taking care of that group. One worker made a comment that the boy always does that when he wants to go to the bathroom.
The boy came to me for help as well. I was busy with changing my daughter's clothes and assumed that one of the ladies would help. The boy went inside the bathroom, closed the door and started crying at some point. When the lady open the bathroom door, the boy was trying to clean the floor with toilet paper. The lady was putting on rubber gloves and told hte boy to take off his pants. At that point I left the daycare. I am feeling so guilty by not helping the boy.
What should I do? Should I speak to their boss? speak to them?
I am struggling with potty training my daughter. She is finally starting to be potty trained at home.
Thank you.
I would speak to the daycare director, but don't feel too guilty. It may have been a case of a little boy who is capable of taking care of his business himself, but would rather have someone else do it for him or he very well could have needed assistance. If it is the latter, it should definitely be brought up. Always talk to a director if you have concerns, but don't involve yourself in the care of the children because that can also set you up for liabilities.
